ADVANCED MECHANICAL ENGINEERING DESIGN

MEG 441/641 (Advanced Mechanical Engineering Design) is a continuation of MEG 440 (Mechanical Engineering Design). The covered material includes design of mechanical elements such as helical gears, springs, bearings, etc. Some mechanics of materials topics such as impact will also be covered. The course will introduce students briefly to the use of finite element analysis in mechanical design through the use of commercial software package, Algor.

The course mainly deals with giving students hands-on design experience in real-life problems through a series of projects. The course will stress collaborative learning through group projects, which will be the major basis for evaluation.
