Project 2

 

Since motorcycles are often used on rough terrains, they need good suspension systems. The figure below shows a testing system for the Kawasaki Uni-Trak motorcycle rear suspension system (not to scale). Analyze the system. The project include the following steps:

i.         Identify loops of the mechanism.

ii.       Identify input motion.

iii.      Derive the displacement equations for all loops of the machine.

iv.     Derive the displacement equation for the critical points in the machine.

v.       Write a program, preferably in Mathcad, to simulate the displacement of the machine. Use the dimensions that you developed in Project #1.

vi.     Use your program to plot the motion of the machine throughout the range of motion.

vii.    Use Working Model to verify the results of your program. You can export data from Working Model to Excel.
