A machine that closes the top
flaps of boxes is shown below (not to scale). The
biggest box that can be used is the Priority MailŪ International Large Flat
Rate Box (12" x 12" x 5-1/2").
Analyze
the system using the following steps:
- Identify the loops and
the sequence of links and joints based on the above model.
- Identify input and
output links.
- Calculate the mobility
of the machine.
- How can you
characterize the performance of the machine as satisfactory?
- Determine the
conditions needed to ensure that the folding of the flaps would work. Hint: Focus on the second loop first.
- Figure out the length
of all links based on the size of a box. Hint: Start by the second loop

- Identify the ranges of
the motion of every link.
