Abstract:  Engineers have been important contributors in the advancement of technology and problem solving throughout history.  From the time of the Industrial Revolution in the 1800’s to the present, engineers have focused on mass production strategies that were based on cheap energy and natural resources.  That era has now passed and the engineering profession must now learn to excel in a world that requires a greater measure of exactitude than any other era throughout history.  Today’s engineer must also develop a high-level focus on meeting the demands of the end-user and at the same time proceed with an acknowledgement of our collective need to preserve the natural ecosystem on which we have a total dependence.  The Question is:  Are you ready for this challenge?
